I remember flipping through the pages of glossy magazines, reading blogs online, and burying my head in books throughout elementary school. I loved to read and had a great sense of admiration for the ability of writers to take heaps of information on a given subject and transform it into a compelling, digestible story. Fascinated so much so that I began writing my own short stories and created a blog that I would post to weekly. I don’t think many people, if any, read my stories- but the journalistic flame was ignited in me during this time, and it has not dulled since.
Jumping back to the present, I have graduated magna cum laude from California State University, Fullerton with my B.A. in Communications with an emphasis in journalism. At the beginning of my collegiate experience, my primary interest was writing. However, after enrolling in various broadcast courses I grew to love the exciting, fast-paced newsroom environment and developed a passion for producing video news packages and anchoring. During my final semester at CSUF (Spring 2022), I was a news reporter for the university’s student-run broadcast news show “OC News”, and was an editorial intern at Orange Coast Magazine, the county’s longest-running lifestyle publication. During that semester I received the Outstanding Student Award from the journalism department and was inducted into Kappa Tau Alpha national honors society, which recognizes academic excellence in journalism.
As a lifelong storyteller, I am excited to pursue my dreams professionally as a multimedia journalist.
